MUSIC

As a songwriter and performer, music continues to be a part of my life. I have performed internationally, composed for TV, produced live events, led multiple bands, and created 3 albums of original music.

TV Theme Composition

I wrote and recorded the theme song for Salt, Fresh & Field, a series the explores food sources, communities and culture in Western Canada. As the host “sets course and journeys into wild and unexpected locations in search of food for an inspired gathering” I wanted the theme to feel both expansive and down-home at the same time. I won a Leo Award for my involvement in this project.

Live Show Production

Some may think it is easy to put on a concert. You show up and sing a few songs, right? In the case of my production called Dark Angel: The Music of Roy Orbison, I was involved in every single detail. Booking the venue, working with graphic designer Pearl Rachinsky on the poster, putting the band together, organizing rehearsals, hiring a sound engineer, writing the show (for Pete’s sake), promoting it, and then — and only then — singing my guts out.

I called this a historical retrospective concert. No, I didn’t wear a wig. But I went into great depth describing Orbison’s life and music and highlighted how they seemed intricately intertwined. The show routinely sold out.

I think it’s time to resurrect this Dark Angel.

Cameron House Residency

I have held a Friday night residency at Toronto’s infamous Cameron House for nearly a decade. It has been a consistent, therapeutic way to express myself and continue to be creative. I debuted 8 new songs at a recent show.

You call that acting??

Yup, I was in a beer commercial once. Just strumming and singing around the fire with some pals and some import light beer.
